Spam Alert: Proposal to dreamincode

Posted 25 January 2012 - 08:03 AM

Not sure where to post this, if its just me or its something effecting the community, but I thought I would share it to let everyone know. I have received a couple of emails that look like this (only change is the name):

Quote

Subject: Proposal to dreamincode.net

My name is Ashley Rogers and I was wondering if you are interested in exchange links, I'll place your link on my sites exactly here:

spicecompanyofvermont(dot)com PR3
seo1top(dot)com PR3

If you agree please send me your site details:

Title:
Url:

I'll place your link in less than 24 hours, then I'll send you an email with my info.

Regards

If you don't want to receive more mails just reply with "unsubscribe".

Obviously I'm not going to go to those URLs or click on any of their links. While I generally leave my email publicly available and I'm not surprised I get spam, it was sent to the email I signed up for the site on, and not my </dic> email

See this thread. It's probably malicious use of the API.
