I've decided to forge ahead with my discovery of hardware/robotic interaction and programming.

The general plan is as follows:
- [ ]finish up the boe-bot book/kit
-- [x] explain some of the code to interaction
-- [ ]do something complex!
- [x] pop over and grab a Fez II Panda Ultimate kit
-- [ ] dink with this until I have tested and played with all combinations
- [ ] pick up a lilypad starter kit
- [x] Pick up a Lilly pad snap starter kit
-- [ ] geek out my clothes
- [ ] work on wireless communication and multiple bots
- [ ] rule the world.

I'll try and keep videos updated on bits and pieces of how this is going (z0mg! Did you know you can add videos to youtube?!) with my new Playsport and Gorillapod stand.

If you have any pertinent questions or suggestions as I am going through let me know.. or if you want more up to the moment info on anything I've picked up.

Sounds pretty sweet. I haven't played with any robotics, but I would definitely be interested in seeing what you come up with for hardware interaction and multi-bot interactions.

I just placed my Fez Ultimate Kit order a few minutes ago from GHI Electronics. I am so stoked to see this whole board/shield business with my own two mitts (versus in the Omaha .NET User's Group meeting or on online) that I can't but take a lap around my joint.

This means I have a deadline to move off the parallax boe-bot and into something similar but different.

Each step a bit closer to that autonomous swarm/robot goal I set this year!

Even more rewarding is when you build the board. I'm not trying to be an elitist, because I didn't build it. Just saying I understand your feeling

Sure sure.. I hear that argument, but I find by passing some of the lower functionality of a build to get to the bigger bits where laser beams shoot out of it's arse my happy spot.

This is definitely a big ol' prototyping kit I snagged versus say the boebot that had a bread board to make those circuits. I figure as I go I'll need to worry about the EE bits then but now it's all mashing and awesome.

I remember when I used to use the Boe Bot. Now days, I use either MINDSTORMS or some other robotics hardware out there.

The only problem with using some robot kits is the fact that they are so limited. When I used MINDSTORMS, I wanted to make a few things that I thought were possible, but due to the way the hardware works in the Brick, I couldn't do it.

Mindstorm never really impressed me. Maybe too much of a kid appeal... who knows.
