You're not providing enough information on the problem.
What kind of an application are you writing?
what's the DBMS?
and most importantly, show us the code you have written so far so that we can determine where the problem is exactly..
a little side note : my personal opinion, if its your first attempt in software developing, I suggest you switch to a better language. VB.NET is worth learning than VB6 for a start. VB6 is a dead language now.

I agree with nK0de, if you're starting new in development, pick a newer language.
There is no point learning VB6 (as good as it is for beginners), to then have to go through another learning curve to pick up VB.Net (for example).
On the other hand, if you're already well into developing VB6, post your code in the code tags and we'll try to give you a helping hand.

That's cool. I have 0 experience with Access (I'm sure you'll find a lot of experts to help you out with Access problems in the Access forum) but I might be able to help you with VB6 but first you'll have to provide the code where the error occurs.
Again, I urge you to reconsider about taking up VB6 if its not compulsory. Pick VB.NET, its pretty much like VB6 syntax-wise but more cool and advanced features that'll make your life easier as a VB.NET developer when it comes to developing your application.

I agree I have been programming in VB6.0 since I was 15 and I would say he is right. Not only will you learn the latest language in VB you would not be far off from what you already are familiar with. Besides if you go looking for a job in that field you are more likely to be hired on new projects or be building a new type of software. Although VB6.0 is still useful it is as he says "Dead", because newer O/S's and hardware, will not be compatible in the near future.
ALSO LIKE HE SAID WE NEED TO SEE CODE!!!!
be sure to use code tags

great point, I must say! I forgot to mention. In my workplace, 3/4 applications are written in VB6. They are over a decade old and I don't even like to start on how hard it is to deal with maintaining all that crap with those ancient code bases.

unfortunately we cannot provide helpful answers just by imagining situations. Sorry. But if you found out that was the error, maybe that would have been the case.
