Hello, I bought a ThinkPad about a year ago and made the mistake of just getting the integrated intel graphics. Now I realize that I would like to use more than two monitors for more coding space. I was wondering what would be the best way to go about doing this?

I'm thinking of either:
A.) Swapping the internal graphics card with a new one (Is it really that hard to do on a laptop?)
B.) Getting a ViDock to use an external graphics card (anyone done this before?)
C.) Save up money to build a desktop in the future

I will really only need to use multiple monitors at home so mobility is not really an issue. Also, I'd be willing to wait to save money for a desktop if that will be best in the long run. I've heard that replacing the graphics card in a laptop is difficult, is this true?

Thoughts?

Which ThinkPad is it?

Is there a generic dock you can pick up to split the video signal?

FYI - "integrated internal video card" on a laptop tends to mean it's part and parcel with the motherboard and there is not a decent way to add a new card (since the other one is embedded in the board).

Its a T520. I saw some docks online, but thought that I still needed a better graphics card to be able to use more monitors and not just the dock. Should have looked into that more.

There's something like that.. though read through the documentation thoroughly because there some restrictions based on your model.

Moving to Hardware Support -> Laptops
