Phobias

Posted 13 April 2007 - 06:22 PM

What are your phobias?

I don't have any big ones that I can think of. I have a fear of fatherhood at the moment, but I imagine that goes away with age.

Not real big on social situations which I'm not in control of... I guess this is called social anxiety disorder.

the first person to say clowns gets shot. i've yet to meet a single person who was honestly scared of clowns.

i don't have a lot of what i would call 'fears', i do however have some 'issues', i.e. 'trust issues'

I really dislike spiders. I used to be terrified. I couldn't even look at pictures in books of spiders. I got better

Everbody finds the stupid, but I'm afraid of thin plastics like cellophane and plastic bags, specially when wet.

I am developing a Thai-phobia.
Especially regarding the women or those that pretend to be women. ;)

In the beginning nobody even looked at me when I was here or if they did then it was with dollar signs in their eyes because they thought I am a tourist.

Now that I am getting "localized", I have several women whom I see on parties or other occasions and one or two of them are trying to seduce me.
One of em is even a ladyboy. Makes me want to cry.
Luckily I have a colleagues to hide behind. :P

That is probably the single most widespread phobia. I've had my scares or had a mean joke played on me by a girlfriend. And I know it was enough to scare me shitless.

Besides that I'm pretty afraid of birds. Their beady eyes, pointy beaks, dirty feathers. Yuck!

Yep heights have always got me. When I was a teen I tried the cure yourself thing. Before bungee jumping there was a thing where they hung chains over a huge pivot (in my case a ridiculously tall tree) and the chain links increase in size as they get closer to the ground until the last chains are huge ships chains. It works as a counter weight. You jump off wearing a parachute harness and at the bottom they have to grab your legs and let you out of the harness before you shoot back up into the tree.
I also went rock climbing, potholing (on ledges over huge canyons underground), riding zip wires, and flying gliders and powered 2 seaters. I loved it all and I can safely say to this day...I'm still afraid of heights :P
I have really poor balance though so it's not a baseless fear.

Same here and any parasite. I think it all stems back to when, as a young kid, I found my rabbit lying on his side looking ill. I thought he was still breathing because his side was moving but then a mouse burst out of his stomach covered in maggots and what remained of his rotten guts spilled out with it...kinda freaked me out.

Two of my best friends, both grown men, one is afraid of balloons the other totally afraid of birds.

I have really poor night vision so I get really uncomfortable in the dark because I effectively go blind in light that most people can still see in, but I really hate cotton wool, can't touch it, hate to see other people using it, it's horrible. I have to use cloth wipes when I change my sons nappy.

If we lived in the same city I would visit you with a box of ziploc bags and a bucket of water right now
