Hello everyone :)

Posted 06 February 2012 - 04:23 AM

Hello everyone,
My name is Sam and I'm 19 years old.
I live in Belgium and I like to program. I'm also doing this in school.
Languages I know (I wouldn't say know very well, but just a base knowledge) are VB and ASP.
I'm learning Java atm, and I'm also interested in programming for Android.

I hope y'all welcome me to the club ^^

Welcome aboard! What sort of projects are you looking to accomplish when you get a better grasp on your language sets?

Thanks for the welcome modi =)
Well I do have one particular project in mind that I'd wish to complete someday, but as for now as you said I still have to get a better grasp on my languages xD

If somebody would be interested I could tell which project I have in mind ^^

Aight. Well don't judge me but I've been playing with this idea in my head to build an android application.
The application would revolve around Pokemon (yes yes indeed, Pokemon).
I'd like to build an app where the user would be able to choose between which generations pokemon (there are 5 generations currently if I'm not mistaking). The user could choose for example generation 1, or both generation 1 and 2.
The user then goes to a screen where there's a random picture of a Pokemon of one of those two chosen generations.
The user can then choose between some options (haven't really thought that part out yet), id say 3-4 options of names for the pokemon. If the user chose the correct name, he gets a point (for example, didn't think that through yet either) and gets another random Pokemon picture and so on.

With this app you could test how well you know Pokemon, or brag against your friends (I know I'm 19, but dang I love my Pokemon :P) of what a good Pokemon master you are.

That's basicly the app (for android first, Apple comes later xd) I'd like to build. But as of for now, I'm only in the mere starting progress of learning Eclipse and programming for Android.

If someone would have a nice opinion/idea, always welcome! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! I wouldn't go that far saying such things though haha ;)
