Re: Favorite Linux Distros?

I recently dumped fedora 17, because it was killing my battery life and with the semester starting I didn't have time to figure it out. So I put on the newly released Crunchbang 11 'Waldorf', and it is stellar. It keeps the low footprint of the previous release, with some nice upgrades to the looks and functionality. It came with gcc 4.7.1 which was huge for me as I've been writing most all of my code in C++11 style these days and I just can not go back to declaring iterators, looping or memory managing the old way the old way haha.

I use xubuntu on my laptops. I prefer it over ubuntu because xfce. xfce seems really efficient for me, but its nice that I can use gnome if I would want to in xubuntu.

ArchLinux: Mainly because I am a fan of actually learning how linux works. Arch is very 'bleeding edge', and overall is just IMO a great distro.

We need more threads like this. Pinning :)/>

I tend to use Ubuntu LTS versions myself, I like the idea that they'll offer me a stable OS and support it. Also, out of the linux and unix OSes i have used it, has been my favorite. But, to be fair, most OSes will win out against AIX and HP-UX >.<

I should point out, that while I have a laptop with Ubuntu, I tend to use linux/unix for my servers, and windows OSes for workstations.

At work I use Linux Mint on my laptop, Mac OSX Snow Leopard on my iMac.

At home I use Windows 7 on my Desktop for the games. My son loves playing Far Cry 3 with me. :3
