Today, I'm fighting the urge to throw myself in front of a train.

Met with my boss this morning for the site launch update. I have one form that's acting wonky. As soon as it's fixed, we're ready to go live.

She decided we need to hold off on that and hold MORE GODDAMNED FOCUS GROUPS to make sure everyone is happy with it before we launch it. This will make the 5th round of focus groups in the last 18 months.

The only advantage to this approach is that we actually hired a new Network Admin and he'll have started his position by then... so he gets to deal with the logistics of moving shit from one server to another and one database to another and making sure all the Joomla innards function properly.

What really got me today was I informed bosslady that I would put in my evenings and weekends if necessary to get this bug fixed and get this beast running. She told me she doesn't want me putting in evenings and weekends... that it takes however long it takes and that's just the way it will be. I wish she'd have told me that BEFORE I started cranking out 70 hour work weeks on this bitch of a site.

Anyway.... </rant>

I think I need a liquid lunch.

You have trains in your office? Sweet. Do they let you drive them?

Sounds like Wednesday to me.

(If I sound a little callous wrt your launch struggles, it's only because our projected launch date has been advancing at approximately one day per day on average for the last year...)

I am supposed to be on my way to pick up the kids and haul my wee one off to karate class. Instead, I'm sitting at work waiting for a locksmith. It seems the battery in my key fob died so I can't open the doors remotely and for one reason or another, my key isn't working to open them manually. The menfolk tried to help, apparently assuming it was my dimwitted womanhood that prevented the key from turning in the lock... but all 6 of the gents who offered assistance discovered otherwise. So, yeah, that's what I'm working on today.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry to hear your womanly powers sucked the life out of the keyfob and welded the lock shut.

I did! I scratched myself, belched loudly, and started throwing around random sports commentary. Still nothing.

Locksmith is working in another town an hour away and says he won't be able to make it back here tonight. His office girl came out with her husband - they changed the batteries in my key fob, they sprayed deicer in my locks... and the car still won't open. The hubby said he thinks there's something wrong with the electrical system in the car - either it's not working at all or my battery is dead.

So now I'm back in my office with uber numb toes waiting on a different locksmith to unlock my car. Go, go, Gadget single digit temperatures!

Haven't you seen The Next Three Days? Just cut a hole in a tennis ball, place it over the lock hole, and hit it really hard. Shit from the movies always works in real life, right?

The second locksmith was successful! Seems my battery was dead, so he jumped me, too (rawr). Home all safe and warm now. :bananaman:

Glad you got that all figured out. ^__^

I've been stuck pulling wire and wiring VAV boxes still. Taking freaking forever. Then for some reason duders stubbed the pipe out the wrong way, so now I gotta go 'round the world to get the thermostat wire in. :x

I finished a proof for Number Theory, showing that integers in the form 2^n cannot be written as the sum of consecutive positive integers!
