Been going along great today throwing this last minute requested report together, until the Reportdocument.ExportToDisk() function started rambling on about some missing parameter exception

Today I'm trying to figure out how our users think (or don't think). I get this lovely responsibility because by providing some usage support for our DMS, everyone assumes that development is responsible for ALL support for EVERYTHING. I had a lady call me and explain a problem. When she told me she had 3 active directory accounts, I should have just hung up and called IT. But I didn't. For some inexplicable reason, I decided to let her explain why she has multiple accounts and how she uses them. Then I talked to IT and had the situation explained to me. Apparently she has a second AD account (where she got the idea that she has 3 is beyond all of us) to be able to map a network drive from another office on a different domain. I don't know what she is actually doing, but nowhere in her halting, confused explanation of what she's doing did she approach ANYTHING that resembles instructions to map a network drive. I hate not drinking coffee.

I know. But I make myself lay off every once in a while, just to give my adrenal glands a break and to avoid getting too dependent on it. I've always had this thing with addiction, where if I think for a second that I'm developing a dependence on something, I immediately quit whatever it is (except my job, because I accept my dependence on money). I guess that's a holdover from my days as a stupid teenager on drugs. I saw enough friends end up dead or in prison that I developed a bit of a complex about it. I suppose it's better to end up that way than the alternative that those friends chose.

Better question today: what am I not working on? (What aren't I working on? What isn't I working on? On what am I not working? What work am I avoiding? meh... fuck it)
My list for the day:
- Joomla install
- Template finalization/implementation
- 2 Custom coded mods to current main site
- Data entry to development main site
- 6 graphics to design against my will
- 2 articles to write
- Governance charter to read and review
- 3 meetings to attend
Completed so far:
- Joomla install
- 1 custom mod completed
- 3 graphics designed
- 1 article written
- Governance charter thought about and subsequently ignored
Not as productive as I'd like, but overall not too bad I guess. Productively comes to a screeching halt after lunch, however, for then begins 4 hours of meetings where I'm required to pretend I give a shit about what's being said. Blargh.

Graphics design? Articles to write? Charters to review? Jeepers.
We should trade jobs. Today I've spent the morning trying to put in a little bit of shiny javascript that client ops wants. Now I'm going to change gears and put together the next piece of the automated build/deploy tool I've been working on. And then maybe I'll go in and refactor some more PHP so I can document the codebase without sounding like an utter nut case.
By the way, I'm actually a technical writer.

Thursdays are usually good for me: no meetings at all. I get things done on Thursdays. Tomorrow, though, I have exactly one hour - 10 to 11 - where I'm not in a meeting.
Fortunately, the guy who has me in from 11-1 is also a devotee of the Best Food Truck Ever and has a company credit card.

Working on overcoming a severe case of strep. It's been ages since I've been to a doctor - let alone picked up prescription pills. What a delightfully annoying experience.

I somehow managed to catch my finger in the zipper of my jeans over the weekend... ripped a chunk of flesh off the side of the first joint on my left index finger. So, I'm nursing a boo-boo. It keeps bleeding. And it hurts. And I'm almost out of Band-Aids.
