bgsound will only run in IE for som reason.

Posted 17 February 2012 - 04:42 PM

For some reason my .m4a file will only run in IE. If I open it in firefox there is no sound. Why is this? The bgsound command is in line 49.
Also feel free to comment on the site in general or my top ten list. The site is very basic right now, because I am still learning and it is my first site. Thanks. :bigsmile:

<h1 class="auto-style7">Check out my top ten list below and tell me what you

	<div class="auto-style3">

I love to play video games. I am a PlayStation man. I have never owned an Xbox, but I have had all 3
PlayStation consoles. I did own a NES and Super NES, as well multiple portables like the game boy<br>
GBA, and Game Gear. I now have a Nintendo DS as my portable gaming device, and plan on getting the Vida when it comes out. I play PC games sometimes, but my PC is not built for gaming, so it can be frustrating to try and play any new games on it.<br>
I have compiled a list of my top 10 favorite games for you:<br>
	</div>
<ol type="decimal">
<li class="auto-style3">Legend of Zelda</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Metriod</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Super Contra</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Final Fantasy VII</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Final Fantasy VI/III(in the US)</li>
<li class="auto-style3">007 Golden Eye N64</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Fallout 3 </li>
<li class="auto-style3">Diablo 2</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Dragon Age Origins</li>
<li class="auto-style3">Call of Duty Modern Warfare </li>
</ol>
	<div class="auto-style3">
<br>
Now this is my top 10 and all gamers have their own unique gaming experiences. Legend of Zelda is pretty self-explanatory if you are a product of the NES generation.
	</div>
<p class="auto-style3">
Metroid and Super Contra also classics of the NES system. The famous up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, A, B start will forever be etched into gamers<br>
memories thanks to the impossibility of beating Super Contra without that cheat.
<p class="auto-style3">
Final Fantasy VII was for many other gamers, myself included, the point when we realized that gaming potential had reached new heights.&nbsp; I will never forget the endless hours of
gaming, finding all of the materia, building an
invincible Cloud, the brutal murder of Aeris, and taking on Sephiroth in that final battle to save the planet.
<p class="auto-style3">
Final Fantasy VI (released as III in the Unieted States on the Super Nintendo), was the first game I remember playing where the story was as engrossing as the game itself. I remember playing it at<br>
my friend Chad's house (he had the Super Nintendo, I was still rocking the old NES), and us both feeling a connection to the characters and story unlike anything we had played before.<br>
It was the first video that I played where I felt like I was not only playing a game but a reading novel.
<p class="auto-style3">
Golden guns and sticky grenades. Endless bong hits, kill streaks and the most influential multi-player experiences of all time. All of these things are the
unforgettable memories that are 007 Golden Eye on the N64.<br/>
All you young chumps slaying fools in modern warfare and next gen shooters of the like, can thank Golden Eye for
revolutionizing the shooter genre in gaming.
<p class="auto-style3">
The entire Fallout Series is outstanding, but the crowning achievement was when Bethesda studios took over the franchise to created Fallout 3. I spent well over a hundred hours of my life playing this game. Most of<br>
time was spent just wondering the post-nuclear apocalyptic waste that used to be America. Seeing Washington DC reduced to radioactive rubble, infested with super mutants and zombie like
ghouls, and blasting enemies with<br/>
laser rifles and mini-nukes was some of the most fun I have ever had in a video game. I became completely
immersed in this beautifully destroyed virtual world that Bethesda had created.
<p class="auto-style3">
In 7th grade my friend introduced me to a game called Diablo on his PC. I played it and had a lot of fun killing scores of undead and gathering ridiculous amounts of loot along the way. It was a fun game, however, it had a few flaws.<br>
The entire game takes place in one spot with a single small town to teleport back to, to sell off all of your loot. This made the game feel smaller then I would have liked. When Diablo 2 came out, I picked it up expecting more
of the same. I was wrong.<br/>
The swarms of demons and undead as well as the ridiculous amount of loot and gold had vastly increased. The scope of the game had become much <big>MUCH</big> larger. The game
spanned multiple beautifully designed environments, ranging from rainy plains and forest, to arid deserts, thick jungles, and the very<br/>
depths of hell itself. This was undoubtedly the best PC game of it's time, and it still holds up to this day.
<p class="auto-style3">
Dragon Age Origins was simply put one of the most outstanding PC fantasy games ever made. The
console version needed some work, but this was clearly a game meant to be played on your computer. The pause and select combat system<br/>
was flawless and combined just enough strategy and action. The characters were great, (especially Morrigan) and the story, though not complex, was fun and interesting to play through.
<p class="auto-style3">
Call of Duty Modern Warfare. The best shooter of the next generation era, point blank, period.

From this page (the W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium...the people who standardize the web):

Quote

HTML Reference

The <bgsound> element is a non-standard element.

HTML5 classifies it as a non-conforming feature.
Examples

No, really. Don't use it.

Using background music is a cardinal sin of web design. Don't do it.

So what do I use? This is how it says to do it in my textbook. what is another way to do it without the bgsound tag?

Never mind, I went to the W3 site and that helped a lot. Any other advice about my site is welcome.
Thanks for the help.
