Silverlight body vs content length

Posted 21 February 2012 - 09:54 AM

My silverlight XAPs were getting a little bloated so I did some digging and found out some DLLs I was referencing didn't need to be copied into some projects because I knew they were being referenced already and would be available, so I set the copy local flag on some DLLs to false. Everything worked well and the other projects XAPs being loaded shrunk dramatically but I also noticed something else. A couple service calls I had also shrunk. One for example, a call to load some application preferences, shrunk from about 1 MB down to about 100 KB according the fiddler's body column, but when I looked at the content length of the RAW data it was still about 1 MB. Does anyone have any idea's about the discrepancy I'm seeing and what, if anything, messing with the Dll's had to do with it?

It's a year later but I think this was a compression setting on my IIS Server.
