Ubuntu fails

...since when did a *nix system need to "restart" for anything? It looks like it's time to part ways with Ubuntu, it's taking after windows a tad too much for my comfort. (Probably going back to straight Debian, Mint Debian, or something akin.)

What were you trying to install? The Ubuntu GUI package installer has required restarting after installing certain packages for ages.

You could try using apt-get in a console window.. less likelyhood that you will need to restart then.

The only time it gives me that is after I update the kernel don't know if that is normal for linux.
