Creepy Software Development Models

Posted 24 February 2012 - 10:45 AM

I'm installing Microsoft Visual Studio on my laptop and I can't help but notice how creepy all the models are on these things:

There's something wrong with his smile.

It all started with that ugly pink shirt as made famous by.. well the book he's on and the film, Hackers.

The installer for Visual Studio 2010 was worse, it had this one guy that was practically business-dressed nightmare fuel.

What creepy software models have you come across?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Pyramid schemes always creeped me out - especially when they are coming from close associates who refuse to understand how bad they are getting bilked by the scheme and how much it hurts when they are convinced to exploit relationships to bleed friends and family of their money.

yeah yeah not *THAT* sort of model.

I'll have to go ahead and admit that the software I've installed recently didn't have models occupying space in the "hold-on-we're-installing" placeholders. And even if they did, I don't know that I've ever taken time to notice them much less rate their creepiness.

I'm thick like that.

@modi
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you misread the homonym or both.

possibly nsfw (you may have to answer a few questions if the boss walks by)

I forgot one. Although "creepy" isn't the adjective I'd use.

My bad modi. Didn't consider that. Thanks for fixing that.

I shall now chastise myself by going immediately to my "timeout" area...which, entirely by providential coincidence, happens to be on my desktop.

Great minds run on the same track.
I know, because I usually get run over by them.
