Nope - not a fan.
Okay a few things.. the colors - that dingy tan is just not cutting it. Something more peppy.
Second - what's up with the sporadic use of gradients/ Stick with one and go from there.
The same with the outlines - some are, some aren't.. some are one color some are another.
On first glance I am not sure what this site is about. There are no clues except some "strange looking characters" (lol) in the image header.
Also it might do to have a texture background instead of just flat black.
Corners - figure out your rounding/straight edge scheme.
If you need help wiith colors use adobe's thing. The create let's you drag onto a color you enjoy and then it tells you things that complement it. Bing and boom!

If you cannot do the design in photoshop.. then don't. Draw it on paper. Get an idea of what colour you want. And then just make the site in straight html and css.. everything can be changed. If you are not a professional designer, then it will not be as useful to use professional software to design.

No, it's not that I can't do the design in photoshop, it's coloring that said design. After all, practice makes perfect. Only after my failures will I have learned

Well for a start, while you are learning... I would recommend not using gradients at all. Gradients only work when they are extremely subtle. Sometimes when I am coding up a designer's design I have to magnify all the way to check if it is a gradient or not!
Have you thought about using a template from Theme Forest or something? That way you can focus on your content?

I agree with Shane. If you are just starting out you should really work on improving one thing at a time. This way you give yourself time to perfect each thing individually before moving onto the next, it prevents you from becoming too overwhelmed and this way will help you to retain what you’ve learned better. I also second the idea of starting with a template to get a feel for things first.
