Well, since I make risks, I am downloading. I will clarify if it is virus free or not. I hope I get good results.

EDIT: The program is virus free, I can say that. I tried it out, I couldn't get the window to open with the notify control you implemented, either a bug there is now window to open.

EDIT2: It stopped working when I tried opening the window.

Well, here is what happened. I downloaded the latest version, and had to installed. Then, when I ran it, a notify icon appeared. I double clicked on it, that's when it stopped working.

Are you running Windows 7 and have the latest Net Framework?
And if it isn't any trouble could you please attach a screenshot of the Notify icon and a screenshot of the program crashing.
I have not encountered a bug such as this during the testing stage, and i would really appreciate it if you help me figure out what is causing this.

I went through the coding again and i can't find any error.I tested it on 4 other machines and it seems to work fine on all of them.
Could you right click the program go to properties and set the compatibility for Vista and give it another try.
Do you have Net Framework 4?

Yes, I do have Network Framwork 4.

Maybe it is an issue with the directories or missing files. Could you tell me what files need to be where?

I already tried that solution, it doesn't work. Is there any code that deals with directories when starting up the application?

EDIT: I noticed it only shuts down when I click on the notify icon. Is there any code with the Notify icon click event that deals with directories?

Wait...What?

I don't get what you are trying to convey here, but to me I didn't see anything wrong in the program, besides that it won't work for me.

I have a little app that is a "Front End" for Windows Vista/7 Firewall that informs me when an app tries to make an internet connection, I can let it through or not. That being said, when I first ran the program it tried to make an internet connection, I denied it of course. But any apps that try to make an internet connection without my knowledge are a NO GO in my book, sorry. I am not talking about browsers or email clients or other programs that require internet access, this program is not an internet app. I understand updates, but give me the option to check for updates!!! The app does look good/interesting though.

Let me explain why the program needs an internet connection.
I release updates for WinLock PRO constantly and a normal home user would not take the time to go to the about form and search for a new update every week.Hence i added a method to automatically check for updates through my server when the program is launched. If you need more proof, open up command prompt and see where the program connects to.
I understand your concern and i will make it an option to stop the automatic update search.
Thanks for the feedback,Now i have something i can work on. :

The essential directories are the "image" folder
BlueButton.dll
and DevComponents.DotNetBar2.dll
All other files are not essential to run the program.

GunnerInc was able to run the program on his computer.I can't make up how it wouldn't work on yours.
I will go through the code again, and there aren't any notify icons when the program begins.
I'll do another thorough search for any errors.

Once the install is complete, ask if the user would like to check to see if a newer version is available and give them the option to download.

Never force an update on a user. Lets say I am using version 2 of your program and you are now up to version 7, don't force me to update. I might like everything about version 2 and don't need whats in version 7.

Add an option in settings to check for newer version every x days/months/years and if newer version, show whats new and give the user the option to download the update. It should always be the users choice not yours.

Oh, and it did crash on me after clicking on the icon in the notification area.
