Look, I'm not an expert on Vietnam or Vietnamese culture, but I've done a lot of research into ancient southeast-asian cultures lately, I've researched the Vietnam war somewhat extensively, I've read accounts, I've met people (on both sides) who were involved in that conflict, and everything I've said has been shaped by this. I may be an idiot- feel free to point it out if I am - but this isn't just me blowing smoke out of my ass, this is what I've seen, perhaps articulated in different ways in different places or perhaps with different conclusions drawn (such as the reason for the overlap of the ARVN and viet cong forces, or the reason that the ARVN and VC/NVA forces often had extended engagements with few, if any, casualties- which, to me at least, looks like they weren't interested in killing each other so much as making it look like they wanted to).

So Vietnamese Group #1 was fighting Vietnamese Group #2 and the Americans showed up and just started one-sided fighting anybody they could find who ultimately didn't give a flying fuck that we were even there and for the most part just continued to fight each other until they found themselves so annoyed with the Americans, they called a temporary truce among themselves, kicked the shit out of us, and went back to fighting each other?

Oh, and they did something to John Kerry who wasn't even there.

Not to come off as completely ignorant, but why are we debating the details of what started a war from half a century ago? And why did the Vietnamese demand to see Chinese side boob?

Wrong, I know where it is
It's south of Latvia, East of Poland and West of Russia. (I live in Europe, so...)

My nationality is kinda... mixed up. Technically, I am a Chinese Dutchmen, but both my parents come from Hong Kong, meaning that I am a citizen of Hong Kong who lives in the Netherlands. (also not in Amsterdam )
