My browser game [review]

Posted 09 March 2012 - 11:17 AM

We have developed a browser based real time strategy game.
www.razarion.com

Plz give us some feedback:)
  • How well does it work in your browser
  • What do you think about the in-game GUI
  • What do you think about the other pages (layout, design)
  • What can we improve

This is an open source project.
Information about the used technology can be found on the about page.

I think it's looking mighty fine! I think that there can be minor improvements, but otherwise its great! If you'd like please check out my indie game, comment, like, and subscribe at the link in my signature! Keep up the good work! PS, what language is it written in?

The character to me was a little eh, and it rarely rarely rarely took awhile to render, and this is my preferences, but I didnt like the color scheme too much. As I've said these are minor setbacks, I rate the game a 9 granted you keep working on it:)

Meant to say controls were meh. Hey it actually looks like red alert!

We did another bugfix release:
  • We could eliminate some browser hangers
  • Load/Unload of transport works now better. Sometime it was hard to load the transporter. We have improved this. The unit must be in the transporter load range and the cursor shows if the unit can be loaded.
  • Mission and quest conditions: In the the past, some mission or quest could not be fulfilled. This is foxed now.
  • Memory leak during Tomcat deploy. Some threads could not be closed.
  • Bot builds to many items. If a bot was stopped the bot was still building units

The graphics for new level and quset completed is improved

www.razarion.com We are looking forward to your feedback :)

Very impressive! Is the front end done in Javascript?

One thing I noticed is that the vehicle sprites move right over buildings, which really ends the whole isometric feel of the game. Also, you might want to consider making an email verification system for registration. That can always be done later on, though.

Agreed, very impressive for browser-based. I noticed that the rotated troop types were spending time loading sometimes. You can get around this by having a hidden DOM element (a div works well) that has all the possible images loaded in it. This way, when the img src changes, the image is preloaded :)

We did it mostly ourselves. Some graphics are taken from blender swap. See the about page for more details.

We did some improvements:
  • Sprite map used to prevent image flickering
  • Mini map shows items more correctly on large terrains
  • Fade in and out fixed if the mission is finished
  • High sore table has been redesigned

Please give us some feedback

Any chance your graphic designers want to design the graphics for a game I am working on for 50% of the game ownership?

Thanks for the feedback guys :)
  • We have improved scrolling. Edge scrolling is now possible. Please give it a try
  • Quests and missions handling is no better. The quest progress is displayed on the right top corner
  • We have also added an in-game chat

Nice game. Could use some serious game balancing. I should be able to take out a turret with like 9 gattling gun jeeps. Then when you do take one down, it takes the enemy less than 30 seconds to build a new one.

I am not keen on the gold limitations either. Gold limit should not exist or exist but based on a building type I can build like a bank/vault. Also loosen up on the building limitations. I get to level 2 and I should be able to build other buildings besides the factory and jeeps.

So take a serious look at the game mechanics here. Other than that, performance was awesome and game is really coming along.

:)
