Just built myself a new computer setup.
64Bit 4.2 GHz Quad-Core (AMD FX-4170)
8 GB of DDR3
64Gb SSD
1Tb HDD
Motherboard- ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3


Done a test installation and it flys.


This is what I want to setup
SDD
0 Recovery Partition
1 OS (Win7 Pro 64)
HDD
1 Program Files
2 Profiles
3 VHDs



What I want to do to put my OS (Window 7 Professional 64bit) on the SSD system, and put a installations on a partition on the hdd.

From my research I need to create some NTFS Junctions, which I've never done.
So can anyone offer any assistance and advice?

Why junctions? Haven't done it on my new box here, but my old box, I had 2 HDDs, 1 had the OS and the other had program files and everything else on multi partitions.

What I did was install the OS, then I used TweakUI (or something similar) and just adjusted the path for Program Files to point to the second hard drive and any other system paths that I needed changed. Any good tweaking utility should allow you to change system paths. Just do it before you start installing any programs.

NTFS Junction would do a symbolic redirection of any attempt to write to C:\Program_File over to D:\Programs_Files

How long does it take to copy ~15Gb of Folders across?
This thing has been running for an hour.

Transfer and Junction Creating is being done via .bat file executed from the Recovery Console Command Prompt.

Woo Hoo we have success.

Now on to the Fun stuff.

Now to install the driver updates.
Now to install the software.
VM Software to install. (Then install OS) inception like.

Reconfiguer the NAT to grant this machine access.
Reconfigure the router to allow me to internet access.

Then transfer over old account stuff from old machine.
