I would prefer Macbook Pro. What an outstanding and excellent laptop features! Having an Intel-i7 processor and 8Gb RAM. Perfect for gaming and 3D effects. Planning to but this, but I think this laptop is very costly.

what exactly are you planning on programming exactly? and is that the most CPU-intensive course you have?

alot of programmers think they need uber-computers to program; they don't*.

you're BUYING these things right? as in you own them and you're allowed to modify the hard drive? If so, just buy the HP and spend $300-$400 on getting a 256GB SSD. That will instantly blow the MBP out of the water.

if you can't modify them, just buy the one with the chassis you prefer. they're both most liekly severely overpowered for your needs.

*this is in the context of school, where you're not trying to compile a 500K code-base everyday.

Update school is forcing the HP for programming. Unsure if I can modify until after school warranty is up...

Consider if the cheapest option is to buy the software yourself and put in on your existing computers.

My philosophy with computers is to buy the minimum I need at the moment I'm buying. It lets me save my cash so I can upgrade quicker. I say buy the cheap one and stash the $1000 in case it gets stolen.

Fuck it. If finance really isn't a problem, buy the cheapest and blow the $1000 on a holiday!

Then buy the cheap laptop and a holiday.

Would you rather have a holiday or a slightly better laptop?

If you're going to be that dull you might as well get the better computer. ;)

Even though I'm not a big fan of HP products (bad customer services and overheat issues) I would rather get that than a Macbook. Despite Mac having a better OS than windows, a simple compensation of any Linux OS can make up for it.

Mac is only valuable for its brand and design, an equivalent hardware can be found on different brands for less than half the price.
