dropdown list selected item is changing to the first value

I have created a web page that contains dropdown list. After selcting a value from dropdown list when I am clicking the submit button selected value is changing to the first iten in the list. This problem is occuring in windows XP system, but not in Windows 7. I am not able to display data from database as the dropdown selected value is not correct, so I made this post.
