I learn tons of things, somedays I get through a lot of material and learn a lot of new and cool information, and others I don't really make progress (hence the reason I said sever days a week).

I have learned cool things like how to write an 8-bit speaker driver, how to switch to VGA-256 mode, how to get keyboard interrupts working, how to program a PIT, how to write functions in assembly and call them from C++ (and vice versa) all in the last week. It is amazing the wealth of information out there if you know where to find it. I learned how the basic mandelbrot fractal equation (though that was through the class I grade for -- after which I redid the code to optimize speed and also change it from 16 color mode to 256^3 possible colors, this was for fun). I was amazed to see just how many instructions the intel i5 processor has these days (I has originally hoping for a small number of instructions such that I could easily get through them, that wasn't the case...).

I learnt a lot every day, but one that particularly sticks in the mind for today is the "Make object ID" option when you right click on an item in the locals menu of VS, which allows you to track different instances of the same object.

I use Windows. Hence, I always have an available calculator.

And 6 hours was just a semi-reasonable number. I usually get closer to 4 or 5. Unless I'm watching a movie. I can snag a solid extra two hours by popping in a DVD and sitting in my recliner.

Then I learned I am moderately jealous over a blue and chrome space-age recliner, as envisioned by the 60's. That and I need to use rope for a belt.

I learn at least one new thing each day. Partially be default from my courses, but I am also usually trying to learn something linux related in my free time. For example, today I learned how to set up a mercurial central repo for a summer project I'm planning.
