The article.
This came across my Twitter feed a few minutes ago and I was curious to get the opinions of some of our UK members here. This a great thing in my opinion. The state of Georgia, where I live, offers tax credits to the game and film industries already, which is why there has been a recent surge of movies and games being created in Georgia.

For me it's too little too late. This should have been done years ago when TIGA first started protesting to the government on the effects that high taxation has put on the games industry. At some point, everyone here has lost their job or had it seriously threatened by redundancy - as well as consistent pay freezes.

Is the industry really suffering that much in the UK? I've seen a lot of game developers popping up on Twitter that live in the UK so I didn't realize it was that bad over there.

Your career is not as guaranteed as other industries, for instance when a project is over the likelihood of you keeping your job is reduced unless there is another project in the pipeline.
Sure, not many complain because we're used to it. The immense amount of knowledge taken to get a job and hold on to it deserves a lot more pay. Yes the pay can be good, but it can be really good if fairer.
I'm scanning the market to see the best deal for me, and if it happens outside the UK I'm prepared to relocate.

Sounds like a tough place to get in and stay in the industry. I wish you the best of luck.
