"When you see this movie, kids are going to believe one day these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie," said Bay as he took the stage to discuss his new vision for the reptilian reboot. "These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable."
What makes me think this is bogus is this response from Bay:
Quote
“Fans need to take a breath, and chill,” wrote Bay. “They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”
Right now this bad pub sounds way too intentional.. almost like a poor, cliched plot bit in a Wednesday night sitcom.
From what I am reading he is also just calling them "Ninja Turtles" - is that laze or are they no longer teenage? Perhaps they all have menial work-a-day jobs in middle management with various manufacturing and accounting firms in New York? Well all but Michelangelo who would be drifting from park bench to box to doorway; only able to mitigate his life ruining hunger for pizza with crack he pays for with money from giving strangers "shell jobs".
Either way right now I am less than pleased, but not displeased enough to join up the facebook groups or twitter hashtagging. I am cautiously waiting for what happens with the "Great Gatsby". *sigh*
Has Hollywood offended you in recent history with it's remakes? Transformers? GIJOE? Star Trek? The Hulks? The Batmans?
What about humorous hypothetical movies that change one crucial piece and then ruin it? I can easily see a 'My Little Ponies' live action movie where the Ponies are actually a large gang of guttersnipe girls that all have cool call signs and skill specialties... after terrorizing London they are rounded up and deported to Brazil, but in route their plane goes down and they are all stranded on a tropical island and start to turn on each other. I am thinking 'Lord of the Flies' meets 'Gangs of New York' but all chicks.
Obligatory video:
Spoiler
Cliff notes:
- Michael Bay is doing a live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.
- Michael Bay is making them aliens, not mutants.
- People are angry so Bay tells them to chill.
- My Little Ponies remake idea.
- Ninja Rap
- *rage face*
