wooohoo! 290 on the upright row (that's maxed out so it will be increasing reps and sets) and an extra pair of twenty-fives on the sled.

Such a great exercise.

I went down to the river and did some jump-rope. My reasoning is that it's easier to find grass to jump up and down than it is to try to find enough grass to run 3 or so miles on.

Has anyone tried out plyometrics? I'm not particularly training for a sport, but they look interesting enough to do in between gym days.

I was thinking about slumming craigslist for some back alley deals on boxes or platforms to use in my apartment.. and yes.. my ceiling is tall enough to accommodate me hopping around.

definitely. my coach will say "for long term, you think of as to doing 170 in the snatch and 210 or maybe is to 220 in the clean and jerk. this is very good result. but for next competition, you must trying to be doing some 145... 150.. in the snatch and 175... maybe 180 in the clean and jerk. in time, you grow up."

Brings back memories... I never got past 225 lb in the clean. My long time goal was to bench 315 lb, but I stopped lifting hardcore a few years ago and lost a significant portion of my strength. I'd be lucky if I could bench 185 lb now. A few months of Cell Mass should fix that though. Haha.

I did plyometrics for HS football to develop better explosiveness. Basically, do them if you want to jump higher, get better at Olympic lifts, or run faster. They're super fun!! My coach also said the most important thing to remember when you're doing box jumps is to focus on spending a minimal amount of time on the ground after jumping off. Imagine the ground is hot coals. You essentially want to tap the ground.

I can't wait for the day I step back into the gym. I'm gonna tear the fuckin' roof down.

Speaking of which I've watching these two vlogs lately:

Twin Muscle Workout - Broscience types. Hilarious.
Lifting for Life - High-quality advice on Lifting and Nutrition

plyos are good for exercise, my coach has me do box jumps after every training session

anyone just watch the 94kg mens weightlifting? Ilya Ilin is a fkn badass. props to him. he broke two world records

blackcompe: i guarantee you're good for more than 225lb in the clean bro. the numbers i posted were in kilograms, so it's weird for me to think in pounds, but a 120kg clean (264 lbs) is attainable by just about anybody with somewhat good technique. if you brushed up on technique i bet you could clean 120kgs in less than 2 months even though you havent done them for a while

More common in sports training, but definitely good for overall athleticism.

Dam. Props to you. That's a lot of weight. Yeah, my coaches always expressed how much more important technique was over strength in explosive sports. I plan on continuing with cleans (and hopefully jerk) when I get back to the gym.

i made a dic fitocracy group: http://www.fitocracy.com/group/11164/

i also looked at runkeeper, but apparently they just have friends not groups. you can post runkeeper to fitocracy though, so that would be similar, i guess.
