White Blank Space Alignment Problem

Posted 29 March 2012 - 11:30 AM

With Writing C++, I am simply trying to find out why the asterisk boxes are different.

One is created in Notepad ++, and the other was created in the Visual Studio Text Editor.

I am using default settings in both editors.

How do I get Visual Studio to properly display the perfectly aligned asterisk boxes with white blank space?

Please see attached screenshots.

Any help is appreciated, I've searched everywhere to no avail.

It's really no code I'm using. It's just the alignment of the asterisk boxes themselves not aligning.

I don't particularly care for them, but my professor simply likes these asterisk wrapped comment note boxes in my code.

I simply type the asterisks around the centered text (as commented notes), and fill in the blanks with spaces.

These asterisk boxes display perfectly aligned in Notepad++ (and windows Notepad as well).

But for some reason they do not in the Visual Studio editor.

Here is the text from the screenshots.

Note: it will not display correctly in internet explorer, you will have to save it, and then open it in notepad to get a properly visual.

Check your fonts, make sure you are using a mono-spaced font in both applications.
