Well the weekend project is over, Please review it!

Posted 01 April 2012 - 04:40 PM

Website: snilld.in

This would be the fruits of my labor, Started on friday, "Finished" just now.

Now the purpose of this website is to "track" time,

Giving you the option of ticking in and ticking out,Creating an user,Logging on
and download an timesheet, For the current month
or for an selectable duration 2012-01-01 - 2013-01-01

I learned a lot from it, So mission accomplished.

Now i want the judge!

But please ignore all "text" content itīs just an placeholder.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Um, are you trying to sell something? Because nobody knows what you are selling... It is usually best to tell people what you are selling/how to use your product/what it is useful for, etc. at some point on your website.

A few other problems:

1. I hope your not planning on making any sales, because no one will just send all of their info to you an email, I will guarantee this. You need a trusted ecommerce service like PayPal or something to make sales online. An SSL certificate couldn't hurt either...

2. Put your "About me" and "Features" on two different pages. Having them on the same page makes no sense. Also in your menu it says "About", so I clicked to find information on what you were selling exactly, and found that you like programming?

3. You have several spelling/grammar mistakes, on your front page...
"We are fast
Running on 2 fast loadbalanced(should be load-balanced) servers,(space after comma)All "provided"(no quotes necessary) by rackspace(it's a company, Rackspace)

DONT WORRY WE PAY THEM SHITLOADS OF CASH...(really..? this line is not necessary, especially if trying to make sales, be professional)"

and here:

"We are Free
We are free for an(only) 1 user license, The catch?
You just(only) get excel exporting, No API's or fancy permission slips.

HEY(,) ATLEAST WE DONT SUGARCOAT IT!"

Bottom line, the site is alright, I just wish I knew what it was for. I realize you made it over the weekend and I'm sure your Jquery database/membership form was what you focused most of your time on. But the rest of the site needs work. Your first step should be to explain what the product is. Otherwise, good work for a weekend project!

Great Text!

The actual site and content was way down there on my priorities list
And most of it was the direct result of "the" 4AM + 1-2 beers madness

But you are absolutely right!

I don't intend to sell anything on this website,
The scenario i was working with was that individuals get it for free but businesses pay up

But that's all make-belief ;)

Itīs an website that allows you to "tick" in to work.
Say you are working freelance and want to automatically "log" the hours you are working on an specific project,
This allows you to do just that. An simple Ticker with Excel exporting

I work freelance so this was also thought out as an personal tool.

Right now i can make an account for every project, And send my clients an Excel file with my total hours logged

In Firefox it seems to be making the same GET requests for the JS files in a loop, leading to the browser crashing.

Also, some big screenshots of he actual app on the homepage would be nice :)! Otherwise people have no idea what they're signing up for. Perhaps even a free demo where someone doesn't have to create an account to use it first.

I completely understand. And now I get the application as well, I like the idea! I don't have time to sign up or try it out (I'm in the middle of class work) but the idea sounds good.
