What about us that need to wear glasses? Will they implement lenses into them?

So Shadowrun is coming to pass? Sweet. Augmented reality.

Here's a more realistic version of what's coming, minus the more sinister aspects of lost privacy:

More information on the glasses.. and a rough prototype. There's a nice flash video of the folk using the glasses.
Edit: found the video on youtube.

Brin preceded that statement with the acknowledgement that the glasses were still “rough prototypes”, so we won’t plan to open our new Google Glasses on Christmas morning 2013 just yet, but his statement at least implies that Google is working hard on the project and sees it as a viable product.

I just had an image of walking through a place like Times Square with these things on. I'm seeing ads on top of the physical ads, and the sensory overload is killing me.

This reminds me so much more of Dennou Coil than Shadowrun. Let's hope you don't pass out if you walk into space that needs updates and lose your soul inside a computer.

I like the sounds of that. Dennou Coil... cyber space in real space... Meta tags... Encoders...
I'm looking forward to these. I can't see Google really being foolish enough to bombard users with ads, but then I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

I'm pretty sure people are going to get into some heated debates about whether or not there should be laws on the glasses after it kills a few people who were distracted using them.

I'm pretty sure the fuckwits who drive around twiddling their phones will continue to be fucktards driving around watching TV in their glasses, and no laws will do a damned thing about it.

We've already seen people drive off cliffs and into lakes because of google maps. Maybe now we'll see stupid people start walking into traffic...

I agree with Jon. People are bad enough about letting themselves get distracted with devices that aren't even, by default, in their peripheral view. How often do I see kids driving around staring into their laps (whereuopon their phones are placed)?
Some people have said that these sorts of glasses might be less distracting because everything is in your peripheral view and of course you can control them with your voice (from what I hear) or a quick touch. Some say that, because they've got so much in one place on their head, their attention (and more importantly, their hands) are free to focus on other things like say, staying alive.

I like to think of it as Darwin finding new and creative ways to keep evolution alive and kicking...even in a society that does it's damndest to keep everyone on this side of the dirt barrier whether they're truly worth keeping that way or not. We've stolen some of his favorite "cull the herd" tools of late, you know. Smallpox, measles, diptheria, polio...we've been pretty indiscriminate about robbing that dude of some of his best methods.
He's having to be ever more creative in coming up with new ways to strain the gene pool for those floating chunks of genetic mistakes. Distractive glasses is one of his more subtle efforts. Spiders invading a village in India and killing two is one of his less subtle efforts.
Dude's gotta make a living somehow.

People will tell themselves anything as long as it means they get to do what they want to do. They're still 'tards.
The problem isn't that their hands are occupied, it's that they're not paying attention. If you have the glasses on, the distraction is that much more immediate. Result: you drive even more like a fucking 'tard. It's like the morons with their headsets - "I'm not distracted, I have a headset!". Sure, buddy, but you still haven't been able to stay in your lane for the last mile, and you haven't even noticed.

Not really Darwin, is it? Darwin says fitter organisms reproduce more. By your theory, "fitter" would have to include "luckier" - unless you're assuming that cell phone drivers tend to off themselves more than they of other people, which seems unlikely to me.
