So Steve Jobs would be the coolest geek ever? There should be a name for a guy like that: one who differs from a geek by being classy and being passionate (rather than obsessed) about something.
Anyway, programming for 2 hours a day doesn't make you a geek or a nerd. Heck - programming 10 hours a day doesn't. It could just mean you're a hard worker. I think geeks are some of the most interesting people, though (the smart ones, at least). I respect them a lot because they're not afraid to express themselves by being unique and having an interesting obsession.

Why put a label that means nothing? Be happy with what you are. I don't think the time you spend writing code or learning something makes you a geek or a nerd. It's passion.

Mac user. Not that I don't like windows, in fact I prefer it for programming because of C# and VB.NET.

Geek came from the Austro-Hungarian for Geken, who were circus clowns that bit off the heads of live chickens. Are you really a geek?

*sigh* Really? Either this is a well crafted troll or you are failing to read.
Your citation has the statement:
Quote
However, the term “geek” has moved through many phases since the word popped up in 18th century Austria-Hungary. Back then, geek, or “Gecken,” was a term that referred to freaks shown by circuses. Geckens would often bite the heads off of live chickens as part of their performance.
Notice the link there... that jumps to a wiki page about a fictional novel called "Geek Love". This novel, according to the wiki link, is about:
Quote
The novel is the story of a traveling carnival run by Aloysius "Al" Binewski and his wife "Crystal" Lil. When the business begins to fail, the couple devise an idea to breed their own freak show, using various drugs and radioactive material to alter the genes of their children.
So no... you are quite wrong. The infographic creator was telling a joke and even went as far as pointing it out with a wiki link.
Now, please, tell me - how many people have you cited this chicken head eating falsetoid to before?

Ok I admit that I was wrong. And, I haven't really brought it up to anyone because it never comes up in conversation. Only here... I saw the topic and it came to the front of my mind. Thank you though for pointing out my error. Much appreciated.
