Text rendering in Chrome

Here's a question for the web experts. I've been experimenting with Chromium (the Linux version of Google Chrome), but I'm finding that text typed into the Posting window is hard to read because there isn't enough contrast between my typed text and the watermarks (background rules and instructions). There doesn't seem to be any Preferences setting in Chromium to control it. Do you have any info relevant to this?

Nevermind. Changing the fixed-width font to "Monospace" instead of "Courier New" makes it much darker and more readable.
