Website that create your HTML & CSS pages for you?
Posted 28 April 2012 - 06:42 AM
I would also like to find a great resource that can help you with your coding after you create it, something that is more visually interactive, place and drop etc.?
I feel there is enough resources on the net that would help you build a site with out much coding.
Thanks in advance,
Will

Also look at WordPress, drupal, joomla they will get you started in under 5 minutes, then its a matter of choosing a theme and away you go (do not limit yourself with just html, php is much more dynamic).

Atli, thanks so much for your response I didn't think it would be this fast great site here!
Yes, I realize this, but I wanted something that would at least get me going, I know the mentioned site is pretty good at doing this, I'm just still learning css and I'm not that great at it. But if I see what, where, how the site is build I learn faster.
Thanks

No. Unless you know HTML and CSS thoroughly you will not be able to properly use PHP or really build anything on the web.
Unless you take the time to learn from the ground up you'll end up always returning to ground zero every time you want something done. Learn the right way the first time, and don't assume that it will be easy to learn it all. Things like this take time to really master.
Yes, you can learn HTML and CSS basics in a few days, I learned them in a bit under 3 hours in Junior High, but to be able to really use it? It won't happen without reading and learning.
You can use wordpress or whatever else you want, but you're going to come face to face with learning it eventually if you want any hint of control over what your sites look like.
As far as tutorials:

Think you have taken this comment the wrong way but no matter, I believe I helped answer willtucker's question.
You do not really need any programming knowledge to throw together a website in this day and age, pay a host, load up WordPress or your tool of choice and use a free theme or buy one, it may not be unique or very attractive but it is still a website.
Also re-read his post and my answer just to clear it up a little were I came from with my answer.
Cheers

If you want to learn, I implore you to start static. Learn how the web works from the ground up and you'll have a much deeper and useful set of knowledge with which you can build upon.
Yes, PHP is important, but someone has to know html and css on down the line, and you're not guaranteed wordpress or anything nice.

I have used Joomla, Wordpress and other CMS sites, and I know how to restyle them to get what I need.
But what I needed was something that would at least get me started with a custom html & css site.
I think learning more about how to style a html site is very important, and I will advance over time as I go.
Thanks again,
Bill

Lemur's blog is a good start.
http://www.w3schools.com is also great for the basics.
some of my favourites sites are:
dreamincode.net
http://www.tizag.com/
http://css-tricks.com/
I occasionally use a css Generator if I am strapped for time or ideas, this is one of many available- http://css3generator.com/

Thanks floppy, I think these are useful, but I think your answer to the prior question that I was looking for something other then how to code is correct, I'm already learning (VERY SLOWLY!!), I need something that will have laid out some, still looking. Thanks

Im a newbie as well in the field of web development..
But as starters, I used wordpress..
The features there is really user friendly..
You just have to be familiarized of the dashboard...
Plus, wordpress can offer you a lot of themes you could use up in your site..
If you want to practice web development, try working with wordpress locally..
Just used XAMMP for your local host..

Hello there, I have used Wordpress for 5 years as cms only, I never styled or changed the html or css much, then I was introduce to Joomla and it all changed!!! Wordpress IMHO is a great very basic way to set up a blog, while Joomla takes it to a another lever as to how you can customize it. You have to learn the rules in the gantry with Rocket Themes and some styling but once you have it down you can customize the site to look pretty sweet!
BTW, this was not what I meant when I said - "Website that create your HTML & CSS pages for you?" I think my initial post to this thread has the best html & css creating process to get you going.
Thanks
Will
