Titanic II

Posted 30 April 2012 - 07:27 AM

So some unbelievably rich guy is building a re-building the Titanic, and dubbing it Titanic II.

Quote

Australian mining billionaire Clive Palmer plans to build a 21st-century replica of the Titanic and sail it from England to New York accompanied by the Chinese navy by the end of 2016.

Story

Quote

The Titanic, commissioned by White Star Line, was the largest liner in the world when built at just under 270 meters (about 880 feet) and 53 meters high. It sank on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg east of Newfoundland, costing the lives of more than 1,500 passengers and crew, according to the statement. The Titanic II will, like its predecessor, have 840 rooms on nine decks

I'm curious to see everyone's opinions on this. It will have the same dimensions as the original Titanic, but have the luxuries of modern technology.

How much do you think tickets will cost? Do you think it will be completed on time and actually sale in 2016?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I guess he doesn't know of the Olympic or the Britanic.

Or is he saying he's going to leave out the safety modifications those ships added in response to the Titanic accident. Yey for him... expensive pile of dog shit.

Lifeboats? Who needs lifeboats? A ship like that could never sink...

The nifty bit is it's what - a hundred and four years since the original took a face plant into the ocean floor? Since then we've been working our hardest to soften up, or completely remove, those pesky icebergs! Less chance of those fouling up the voyage! Now the biggest concern is keeping the drowned polar bear carcasses from gumming up the propellers!

Polar bears are a myth, invented by liberals to make you feel guilty for exercising your god-given right to drive your Ford Expropriation whenever you want.
