I mean, cmon. Not only did the DEA forget someone in a holding cell, but they also LEFT A BAG OF METHAMPHETAMINE IN THE CELL. This is insane, and I'm pretty sure nobody is going to be punished for it.

Dafaq did I just read, is all I can say. Keep anyone in there for 5 days they'd go nuts. Very little/no light and no contact outside. But how did the drugs get in there?

The insanity of this story is too much. I have no further patience for the DEA, but I still can't stop giggling at the thought of a chinese student drinking pee and using meth to stay alive and awake.

Wow, that would really, really suck. Why would he use the meth? What would be the purpose of keeping yourself awake?

The kid's explanation of the whole meth thing seems a little odd (it's far more likely that they didn't search him adequately and he had it on him), but the DEA can't argue with it because a detainee managed to be in a holding cell with meth, with nobody checking on him for 5 days. This shit is unbelievable.

He may have had it on himself, or one of his buddies. It's not like he's going to admit he brought it in there... that's just self incriminating. Anyway, as h4nnib4l pointed out, that's a fuck up with the officers.

But as for why use it... 5 days, no food, no water. It might not be the smartest choice, but fear will drive you to think weird things are the smart thing. He may have actually feared falling asleep assuming maybe he'd never wake up, or that he'd miss a chance of someone walking by and not get to signal to them. Or maybe just thought he was going to die and figured, eh, might as well get high one last time.

Let's just say, if I was in his position... I'd probably have done the crank as well.

Locked in a DEA holding cell. No food. No water. No human contact. No clue if/when you'll ever get out... Pretty fragile mental state, to say the least.

(Assuming he was cuffed in front...) Imaging pulling your dick out, aiming it at your face and peeing (or ladies, peeing on the floor or in an empty meth bag) just to get something to drink. Shit, not many people know how they would act in that situation (this poor SOB does), but "purpose" probably fails to adequately describe most of your actions by day three, four, five...

Yeah, I'd have probably done the crank too, and I never much cared for it...

A guy I knew got left in a holding cell for 2 days(really 1 and half). about mid day on the second day they tried putting a new kid in their and realized it was already taken. he just thought that's where he was going to stay for his stint. he hardly even realized how much time had passed; he thought it was less than a day.

Unfortunately this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME (if not everyday). They will make you drink out of the toilets and not give you any food. The "positive" spin on the story is that this kid is either going to jail and making a lot of money (possibly millions), or they are going to drop all of his charges (major stuff). Either way, 5 days in a holding cell probably beats years in prison.

I'm sorry but uh... no. Torture doesn't get that kind of down play in my book. Jail isn't inherently deadly like 5 days with no food or water while hand-cuffed.

Also, he was never charged with anything.

Yeah, even in a second or third world country, they'd be fucking embarrassed about doing this on accident. The difference is they'd charge you with something so bad that it would look like you deserved it.
