Got only 86% with 56 reviews on RT. Will still watch it though.

I saw Batman Friday and left.. well worn out. It don't know if it was the movie length, the less than subtle plot points, or just that it was that Friday but I left, underwhelmed? Sure.. my buddy (a significant Batman fan) was also less than exuberant about the release.. and his only response was "*sigh* I have to see this tomorrow with my father-in-law" versus the last batman where he saw it a few times to his delight. *shrug* Oh well - you win some you lose some.

I enjoyed Batman, but I also saw it with my wife. I'm much less critical of movies (predictability, lack of subtlety, *groan* plot twists, etc) when I watch movies with her, so I find it a good practice. They really tried to cover a lot of ground with the story, which certainly made it long but also made it feel like they were trying to get things done quickly, like

Spoiler

Honestly, I'm not sure how I would have felt seeing the movie alone, but I try not to do that anymore because I'm entirely too critical and probably won't enjoy it.

Avengers and TDKR are the two unmissable for me this summer. I also wish The Watch wasn't about aliens- I love me some Richard Ayoade via The IT Crowd.

Did anyone get in on the Total Recal release last night, or today? Any plans on seeing it this weekend? The reviews are a mixed bag so far..

Just saw Total Recall. In spite of the abysmal Rotten Tomatoes rating. I honestly preferred it to Spiderman and Batman, both of which I have mixed feelings about.

As an action movie, in wins hands down. None of this fucking character introspective angst, omg, we're really deep, uh huh, facade. No boring two dimensional manufactured love interest. This is a full on, balls to the wall, shit goes boom, gets shot at, dodges near death continuously, ride. It is, in short, a real "summer" movie.

It's not an "Arnold" style movie, but then what is? They kind of botched the whole "what is real" shtick, but it's not a huge deal. It would probably do better if it didn't have the moniker "remake" to live up to.

I could watch Kate Beckinsale shoot things all day, really. Jessica Biel, too, for that matter. Colin Farrell always strikes me as a lost puppy, which I think worked for the movie. I enjoyed it far more than I expected.

I'm afraid I can't trust Rotten Tomatoes anymore. Since Warner Bros bought them a year ago, they've seemed worse than just biased...

@Baavgai I had no idea that Warner bought Rotten Tomatoes. A movie studio buying a movie critic website. Smart move.

I saw Cabin in the Woods yesterday. I kept reading reviews about how awesome it is, so I rented it, switched off the lights and put on my extra bass headphones. Preparation all in vain. The movie was not even a bit scary. It was funny, weird, reminded me a lot of Evil Dead, but not a bit scary. I feel so let down.
