I am happy to hear how many people are moving away from pop and highly caffeinated drinks (for the most part). I have always said that caffeine destroys the coding skills. Water and green tea are the way to go and are now the drink of champion coders everywhere!

I can tell when people drink pop and coffee... they start being totally n00b and ask for teh codez. Don't be like them! Be cool and drink water or green tea! fo sho

:D

green tea has more caffeine than coffee ------------------ you can also get caffeinated water ---i like to just live on the sweet sunshine particles that flow through the air....or coffee which ever works best

So green tea contains 1/4 to 1/8 the amount of caffeine by volume compared to coffee.

Caffeine comparison: Coffee vs Green Tea

many of the comparisons on there were 7oz tea verse 16 once coffee.

the smaller amounts of coffee had a huge range of caffeine where the teas did not have much of a range.

I went through a few sites and they were mostly like that.

If you are comparing items like this you need to have a set brand and a set amount from a set location and so on.

Though green tea is my fav escpecially hot.

From the linked site:

Coffee, Generic brewed 8 oz. (240 mL) 95-200 mg

Green tea 8 oz. (240 mL) 24-40 mg

The generic brewed coffee, 8oz, has a range of 95-200mg, whereas 8oz of green tea shows a range of 24-40oz. I doubt many of us make ourselves a bunch of espressos or run to McDonald's throughout the day, so I feel like this comparison works just fine. Coffee has more caffeine. I like coffee, but I drink it for the caffeine. Coffee wins.

EDIT: Just noticed that Jon beat me to it...

Usually I drink water, but it happens that I bring some soda of what ever kind I currently have available.

If I were to have some tea, or other hot drinks, they would most likely end up getting cold, unfortunately :/

Regarding green tea and it's caffeine limits - what, can't we all do a bit of math reduction? You know a little big of "amount of caffeine per volume"?

Required Coffee vs Tea infographic.

Meh. It shows UK coffee/tea sales from 2007. I'd be curious to see the graph for sales on this side of the giant vat of moist plastic.

Note: Not curious enough to look it up myself.

Tufte would beat the shit out of that infographic.
Major fail #1: graphing caffeine content of coffee and tea using different scales side by side.

Major fail #2: the green check mark and red X mark by tea and coffee on the "health" scale are not justified by the factoids presented in the chart.

Major fail #3: The factoids are very poorly sourced.

Major fail #4: A pie chart of rankings? Say what?
