and I'd like to know exact details as to why it thinks MY code is a trojan/virus.

It's probably another useless rant, but I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way.

That could have been made clear in the first post versus say fifteen posts deep your covert intentions are laid bare.

No bad intentions, just poor preparation on my part.

I didn't say they were bad - just hidden. In future posts you may want to be less coy and more burlesque.

It's probably all to do with user friendliness. The customer base of Norton is not made of computer programmers, it's people who only understand how to type something into Google.

bdemorrow, so when you write programs in Assembly the AV software doesn't like it? LMFAO!!! Welcome to my world. 2 simple things that can help:
1. Add VERSIONINFO to your resource section.
2. Add a MANIFEST to your resource section.

Don't put data in the code section then try to write to it. Don't do anything "shifty". You have COMPLETE control over your code layout, move functions around, move your data and data? around.

I find just good internet practices work best.

If I plan to go anywhere shady, I don't do it on my machine I don't want infected with anything. I go out of my way to do it where if anything goes wrong I don't give a crap. So what if my virtual running ubuntu on some separate subnet goes kapoot... delete, reload image, I'm up and running again.

And yes this goes for all my machines, from Windows to Linux to weird no-name systems I run for work (though I highly doubt many viruses exist for them).

So I was right. Computers can get STDs too.

I'm just saying... you're putting a virtual condom on your computer... So that when it goes to those "shady places", it won't catch anything nasty. You know.....

Will definitely give that a shot, thanks for the tips!

I have exactly the same problem! a lot of my (better) programs get denied by my clients because their antivirus detects it as a virus, trojan horse, etc...
especially avast! seems to hate my programs...

The only antivirus s/w I use now is Microsoft's MSE along with Spybot Search&Destroy. I do a full scan about once a week and they pretty much stay out of my way.
