PHP...but that doesn't excuse its ongoing flaws.

Like what - being dangerous when awesome?

Most of which qualify as dangerous. Awesome, not so much.

Of course I was joking there..

On a side note - what are my alternatives for web CMSs if not PHP? I haven't heard a peep out of Python, Perl, or Ruby as a semi equal to something like Drupal...

Most of them haven't matured as far as the PHP CMSs have like Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, etc...

There's a few good ASP.NET ones. DotNetNuke was pretty good. I knew a guy who worked on the Umbraco team.Orchard looks pretty good.

I like what I've seen about Zuck, but facebook doesn't seem technically challenging enough to rank him with the big programmers. It seems more like a pet project gone bananas, with him adding things in as he thought of things that would be cool. It's still very impressive in that sense- he definitely has an excellent sense of very basic digital renditions of social interaction.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any interviewees mentioned by DiC screen name here. I was halfway expecting Martyr2 or Baavgai to be people who were interviewed.

Bjarne Stroustrup, C++ creator
Linux Torvalds, Linux creator
Alan Cox, Linux kernel contributor
Eric Raymond, open source advocate and author of 'The Cathedral and the Bazaar'
Larry Wall, Perl creator
Guido van Rossum, Python creator
Yukihiro Matsumoto (ha this one I had to google it), Ruby creator
Tim Berners-Lee, World wide web creator
David Heinemeier Hansson, Ruby on Rails creator

I know most of them aren't modern as the topic asked. But I expected to see a lot of references of folks like this.

Ah man, I hate youtube! It was so terrible when it first came out. Every week they would change shit!
I was a Google video user all the way.

My idea of great programmers would be the Northern Dragons Northern Dragons demo group

They write some insane code!

I'm not sure if Fairlight is a single person or if they are fro the Northern dragons group, but they write some really good demos:

I don't think anybody wants to know what a coder looks like at work. Who here codes while wearing more than maybe underwear, if don't have to?
