Yep that's right... verizon is taking allt he grandfathered data plan people and forcing them to choose a tier. I guess there is no accounting for loyalty. Sprint here I come.

This is no surprise. They've already been capping 'unlimited' data plans at like, 2gb (maybe 1gb). After that they slow your plan down so much, it's practically useless. Such a scam.

I'm with Sprint, have been for the past 5 years and regularly use my 4G Android phone as my wireless access point for my laptop. Never noticed a cap or slowdown in speed.

But yeah, you'd think with them supposedly expanding their network and the technology maturing that you'd be going in the opposite direction with data plans (that is, more data for less money). Guess not.



Seems like with them altering the deal so radically that any existing 2 year agreements ought to be null and void.

it's a change when you voluntarily change your services to 4g, they aren't taking it away from people who have already been grandfathered, they are just not offering grandfathering anymore.

haha you think verizon is the only one doing this? AT&T is as well. There is no unlimited data plans anymore, they'll all be gone soon and everyone who has a contract will be forced out. AT&T is sending me texts monthly about them bottle necking my 3g, 4g, and Edge network speeds so as to nudge me into altering my plan somehow.

Also they don't usually bottle neck you till you hit some lower cap they have set. Not a lot of open wifi's for me to use here in the south, nor is wireless hotspot cheap!

I have Verizon, but spend $30/month for 4GB data. I only got close to that last month. I don't think I will be this month as my new job allows me to connect into the corporate wi-fi. So the only times I'm not using wi-fi is when I'm out doing things, and even then I'll pop on an open network if I can.

I use virgin mobile. If anyone's pissed about losing unlimited plans I'd recommend checking them out. They have an actual unlimited plan and all of their plans are on a monthly basis. If you decide you don't like their plan you can change without hassle.
