What band would you like to see play live?

Posted 22 May 2012 - 08:15 AM

I've still got a few on my list.

I'd love to see A Perfect Circle, Rob Zombie, GWAR, Eric Clapton, and YES (though YES may not ever happen).

Though I would easily go see Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Atmosphere, Breaking Benjamin, Lacuna Coil, Disturbed, Dismantled, or Slipknot over and over and over again.

What about you fine folks? What bands are you longing to see again or for the first time?

As much as I hate to agree with DarenR, it's true. There is not one single band I have any desire to see play live.

I went to my share of concerts back in the day.... don't need to do it again. I'd rather hear their music while shaking my groove thang at home with friends than in a massive auditorium being slowly crushed to death by strangers.

I saw Zombie and Anthrax a few years back. Not a bad show.. shitty venue. A Perfect Circle is.. meh they didn't impress me much.. Nine Inch Nails has been.. oh.. five times now?

In recent memory - three and a half hours of pure Foo Fighters (Lemmi from MotorHead was stuck in Dallas due to a tornado so they didn't play) was six ways of pure awesome.

Bands I would like to see but can't:
Nirvana
Janis Joplin
original Alice in Chains

Bands I would like to see:
Hole
Garbage (maybe August.. )
Sponge

+1 for Foo Fighters - I'd love to see them. 30 Seconds to Mars was decent. Saw Boys Like Girls at CNU with the girlfriend at the time and that was pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed Staind and Breaking Benjamin.

I've only been able to see NIN once, and I wish I could have caught them again before he decided he wanted to retire the live ensemble for a while. I was in the pit, and I loved every second of it.

I would have loved to see Janis Joplin. Hell, there's a lot of old artists that I would have loved to see live, but its just not a possibility until someone figures out how to clone exact copies of people or master Resurrection. Second the original Alice In Chains, but I suppose I would still see them now. The new guy isn't bad, he's just not Layne. And you still have Jerry Cantrell.

Nirvana and Foo Fighters are both enjoyable bands. Don't know if I would be moved to see either one, just because they are passively enjoyable to me.

I wouldn't see Hole if you paid me to go, only because I thoroughly hate Courtney Love.

I went with my mom to see Staind, Breaking Benjamin and Three Doors Down. Staind was good, but Aaron Lewis spent the entire set sitting on a stool. Enjoyed the music, but they had no energy at all. Breaking Benjamin was awesome. We left after a few songs from Three Doors Down (they were headlining, but fuck it).

I saw Slayer in Dallas back in '01, the first show with Dave Lombardo back on the drums. Not really a Slayer fan, but it was fucking amazing to see nonetheless.

I'd like to see Tool again, I almost died when I saw them at Street Scene San Diego in '06 or '07 (a few people did die: 3 I think). The crowd rushed the stage so badly that people were crushed to death. Completely retarded.

Definitely would have loved to see Alice in Chains, and I'm pissed I didn't make Rage Against the Machine (I'm too old to properly enjoy a Rage concert now I think).

I begin to suspect that I'm out of the swing of things, musically speaking.

I could bestir myself from my apartment to hear Neko Case, or anybody that Brian Blade is drumming for, or Richard Thompson, or Noel Hill, or any number of people, really, but I don't think I'll ever go to a stadium show again, and I'm not likely to be going to any concerts where people get crushed to death.

Yeah, I like the idea of concerts because I want to hear the band live and I want to watch the musicians play. But to get close enough to really watch them, I'd be too close to avoid the chaos. Street Scene was the last time I went to a concert of any type, it was a pretty shitty experience. At one point Tool refused to continue if everyone didn't chill out and back up. Ambulances were constantly hauling people off. Everyone calmed eventually but the damage was done.

The closest anyone comes to getting hurt at the shows I go to is when the fiddler falls off the stage, and that's his own damned fault.
Wait, that's the shows I play, not the ones I go to...

Can we also surmise that you play the fiddle?

I understand that zombie tech is coming along nicely. Pollstar has tentatives for a Whitney Houston/Donna Summer tour in summer 2013.
