Hi,

I am currently working on a project for my thesis.

I have decided on a development methodology that I am going to use and was researching on how to carry out and OOA and OOD.

By doing OOA and OOD I will identify the entities that are needed for my applicaion and also identify the requirments and the design of the application.

To come to my question, regarding database design should I model the tables etc based on the enteties generated from OOA and OOD stage or should Database design be conducted first?

Any help would be greatly apprecaited as I am trying to find answers to this matter and I am not successful.

You'll probably get them both wrong first time. That's not a criticism of you, just the way things are. I don't think it really matters which one you start with. Just make an initial plan for one and then do the same for the other. Go back to the first and keep tweaking them both until you are happy.

Maybe you could also consider using an object -> relational mapping framework. It could take a lot of the pain out of the process.

Yes infact I was planning on using the iteration and incrememtal methadology.
As for object relational framework I was planning on using LinqToSql.

My problem is, how i can explain how I moved from the database desgn to the object design.

Or you could just use db4o (or some other object oriented database) and not have explain. http://db4o.com/
