The future of programming may not change the function of programming, but the role of programming is changing.

things like : cyberwarfare is here now, but it will be a bigger deal in the future

Yep. Fox hires knowledgeable reporters, all right...

Researchers said it will take months if not years to fully dissect the massive program, which uses a database to store information rather than a simple text file -- a clue to the scope of the cyber-spying.

Sweet galloping Jeebus. They used a database. Those fiends!

it's o.k. Jon, for those who prefer more liberal news:

http://www.cnn.com/2...?iref=allsearch

Gostev says that because of its size and complexity, complete analysis of the code may take years.

"It took us half-a-year to analyze Stuxnet," he said. "This is 20-times more complicated. It will take us 10 years to fully understand everything."

Nothing to do with liberal or conservative... just a typical howler from an idiot reporter.

This was interesting, though, from the CNN piece:

Quote

The malware has no kill date, though the operators have the ability to send a kill module to it if needed. The kill module, named browse32, searches for every trace of the malware on the system, including stored files full of screenshots and data stolen by the malware, and eliminates them, picking up any breadcrumbs that might be left behind.
"When the kill module is activated, there's nothing left whatsoever," Gostev said.

Wouldn't it be nice if package managers could uninstall this well?

Hey, fox showed Lua code for their cute little picture! why did they pick such a unique language to show?

edit2:
O COOL! it was written in Lua!! Fox actully showed the right language.

edit:
lulz, "20 times more code makes it more effective"! this is hysterical. I love it when under qualified people talk about this stuff. they even made their own "expert" look like an idiot.

also, how self righteous do you have to be to count it as "good" when we do it someone else but "evil" when it's done to us? people are so fucking stupid.

... as literally tens of lua programmers revise their resumes, anticipating idiot questions from hiring managers:

"So, Lua, that's, what, mostly used in writing viruses, isn't it?"
"Um, no, actually it's... oh, nevermind..."

And that, children, is how "lua" got to be rebranded as "kuu".

It's been reported at least once.

Fox news hire writers that are good at persuasive essays, but not so much at actual reporting. What I wonder is how does the virus infect other computers? Is it just being spread around by removable media or could it also be on the internet? And if it is on the internet, why haven't other countries been affected by it yet? Do we not have access to sites hosted in the middle-east?
