Ì need a portable external hard drive for work files and other stuff
1 terabyte is probable enough
I dont want a huge external hard drive, i was more thinking about something like those passport from WD size.
Also i dont want one that need an external power source


I also have a question:
I will be saving lots of files and editing them frequent on the hard drive, but i would also save them a second place, so i was wondering how i would sync it to another place without doing it manualy?

I would recommend sticking with a known brand.. Yeah the passports would do well. The thinner drives tend to be usb only..

A terabyte? Wow.. that's a bit.

As for backing up I use 'puresync'.. though you could investigate portable apps and use dsych or something they have there..

.. that way the app resides on the drive and doesn't require an install.

Have you thought about using an online storage instead? It's less to carry around!

Oh and if you need security don't forget to use truecrypt!

google has one.. microsoft has one.. dropbox is also really nice.
