Diamond Jubilee 2k12

Posted 04 June 2012 - 06:52 AM

I gather from the 'Good Morning America' talk show this morning the major kick off for the Queen of England's Diamond Jubilee is starting out.

For those out of the loop - the Diamond Jubilee marks sixty years of Queen Elizabeth II in power.

I understand Saturday was a bit hectic - so who's there? Who's in the know? Can we get some DIC on the ground to report the awesomeness of this?

There doesn't quite seem to be the fervor like the royal wedding over here in the US.. or maybe I just glossed it over with a 'what-evs'...

I heard there's been some music:

Quote

LONDON -- The celebration of the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II is ready to rock 'n' roll.

A gala concert kicks off at Buckingham Palace on Monday evening with Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Cliff Richard and Sir Tom Jones heading the line-up, along with younger artists

A somewhat symbolic irony - burning invasive species in honor? Ha!

Quote

The 262 residents of the remote island of Tristan de Cunha, a British territory 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) from any other land, are combining their Jubilee beacon with some environmentally conscious gardening. They are lighting their fire with invasive species including the New Zealand Christmas Tree, loganberry and other alien plants.

I heard Canada got the week off work... Naw.. probably not.

Over course quite a bit of this is marred by the money spent when others are poor or ill fit for work... but that's why you have royalty - to provide an excuse to party, amirite?

BenignDesign's signature - dis-proven!

Side note - this is not to be confused with Jubilee.

O.M.G.

Give it up will you ?

First of all no one could be described as being poor in the UK

Even some of those who are out of work are raking in £27,000 in benefits
and are able to run a car and go on Holiday to Spain or somewhere suitably hot like that.

At current conversion rates that is $41404 a year and how you can describe that as being poor I don't know ?

If you want to see real poverty go to Africa or India or some parts of South America.

It is not 1712 anymore its 2012 no one is going hungry or has rickets for Gods sake.

Also the Queen is not just the Queen of England she is the Queen of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well.

The Queen has no power we are a parliamentary Democracy and no Monarch has had any power for hundreds of years. She is just a Figurehead.

The collective countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are called Great Britain its not called Rubbish Britain.

We are a Great country get used to it.

In answer to your question there have been street party's where we have been drinking Tea and eating ham sandwiches and cream cakes with our 3 piece suits and bowler hats on..

Well not really we have had street party's but we have been getting drunk and partying on down in jeans and modern clothing like that.

The Bunting has been on Display in many parts of the Royal Burgh where I live and everything is looking very pretty.

The Union Jack is on display and also the Saltire.

She has perhaps been the greatest most dedicated Monarch Britain has ever had, God preserve her.

Post your address in the U.S.A and I will send you some Tea along with some Jubilee cupcakes by express courier service.

Best Wishes.

Snoopy.

This is simply a lie, how could citizens of a country that has such esteemed royalty stoop so low?
I call your bluff...

As long as a full English breakfast retains its price at 4 then all of the UK citizens can enjoy affordable luxury. I think government subsidies should be in order during certain times of inflation.

In which way have we stooped so low ?

Im confused by your comment your obviously being ambiguous but why are you calling my bluff ?

If you believe the opposite to be in effect ?

In which way could I bestow, procure, cater or equip you with the relevant information to delude, betray and defraud you ?

I hope this clears things up between us.

Snoopy.
