Does any event fire when data loads in HTML5 video?

Posted 04 June 2012 - 11:29 AM

Hi, can anyone tell me whether there is any event that fires when data is loaded in a HTML5 video container (for example, the current state is buffering, there is no data to further play back. The event should fire the moment sufficient data is loaded to enable it to play back, whether the user has kept it in a paused state or not), just like an event fires when the position of the seek button changes (either by user or naturally)?

Well, I know the source, and most of my knowledge comes from there. But that is a huge page, and there are lots of functions out there, I cannot seem to find out whether such a function exists or not.

By the way, I didn't ask correctly. That is not what I was looking for, that event fires the canplay() event. What I want to know whether any event fires as further data loads into the video. Basically I have a custom HTML5 video, and I want to advance the progress-bar as further video loads (irrespective of whether the video is in a playing or paused state, just like in Youtube, where the grey progress-bar advances as further video loads, until the video is fully loaded), so I need an event which fires when the media element receives data that can be played back, even though it may already be played back (fully or partially) with the existing data.
