I'm pretty sure this is done with php, but have no idea how to do it!

I built a simple website for a friend that owns a reptile shop. But I need to be able to sort it so that he can change/update his own stock list.

The stoock list will be on the 'Available' page. I was thinking of making an 'Admin' page tthat only he can acess with his username and password, having a text box on it and a submit button, so anything he types there gets sent to his 'Available' page. I assume /I would need some php script to do that?
Or if anyone can suggest a better way of doing it, I'm all ears!
