Well.. *WOULD HAVE* since it was killed off years ago.

It doesn't seem that terribly long ago (1987?) when Hypercard was launched. Conceptually it was like a management system of web pages before there were really tons of web pages. It was the backing for Myst... provided endless fun in elementary school "computer lab time"...

I do believe I have a floppy disc, or an old hard drive, containing my final project back in the day.. a hypercard roman numeral calculator! Duh-duh-duuuuuuh!

Out of perverse curiosity - does anyone still *USE* Hypercard? Perhaps their company wont' give up the juicy calculating bits and they have a "mission critical" machine around being used? How about any great apps they created with hypercard? Fond memories?

I remember using Hypercard in middle school. We had a class where they taught us how to surf the internet, do small little projects in Hypercard and manipulate a computer. It was taught by some fat bitch who ate Pizza the Hutt. Poor Pizza....

Anyway, not much to say about that class except that it was a easy class, I got to waste time on the internet (making websites with fuckin' Anglefire, dude), voting for TRL Live and of course, Hypercard. Such a versatile, nifty little tool. It could do so many things.

I guess people tried to make clones of it, but they went overboard and try to make it do too much. Hypercard was awesome because of how easy it was to learn and use.

I remember playing with hypercard. I read an article about it in Analog, I think, and I made a little adventure-type game.

Funny, looking at the link I realize now that I had no idea of what "object-oriented" meant at the time, which is probably why I was very confused by it all.
