$30? I got the smaller bottle for about $20. It is bloody delicious. You can either mix it or shoot it straight, but I will warn you: at 94 proof, it's a pretty potent shot. My personal experience with it is offering a shot to my neighbor, then taking the shot after he waffled on it.

"Gah! It burns! It... Wait. That flavor. That's amazing. That's unlike anything I've ever tasted before." And then the afterburn.

If you mix it (say in a rum and coke), the burn goes away and you just get the mellow, deliciously complex flavor.

It's a nice way to spend an afternoon, if you're into that, or it's a tedious waste of time if you're not.

Side note - the Three Olives newer flavors (of their thirty or so they have now)... The Dude.. Birthday Cake.. Cola.. Fruitloops.. and Bubblegum are all pretty groody. Not much mixes well with any... I tried.

I'll take a nice aged single-malt Scotch whiskey. Usually 12-year-old Macallan. Got a 15-year Glenlivet as an early Fathers' Day present, but haven't opened it yet.

Beer-wise, I require something on the strong side. An IPA or stout, please.

I think that I have been gearing more toward wine than anythign else--- a couple bottles go down nice after a long week...

My problem with wine is it makes me feel too relaxed. To the point of just wanting to sleep. Plus it gives me a headache rather quickly. It's still hard to pass on if someone opens a bottle but it's not something I go and buy just to sit around and drink.

@CharlieMay - Agreed on the headache.. using a magnum of Cook's Extra Dry champagne for your drink of choice in a 'circle of death' card game also provides an exquisite head throb.

Wine is for dinner and post-dinner palaver. ("Wine... it's what's for dinner") I typically get malbecs in honor of my friend Guido from Buenos Aires, but I'm absolutely tone-deaf when it comes to wine - so long as it's red and served with good chat, I'll probably enjoy it.
I don't think I'd like it with good chaat, though - for that I want a lager.

My wife is a Malbec fan too (specific ones which, sadly, I can never remember). She's definitely the wine connoisseur. I have to agree with some of the others about wine: it usually just gives me a headache and makes me want to sleep. I enjoy a red with most any dish with a lot of basil and garlic, but for the most part I'd rather do a good beer or scotch.

Well, scotch with dinner is much more rare than beer with dinner. Again, depends on the dish, but the MacAllan and a medium-rare NY Strip makes me a happy guy...

For beer I usually go with Foster's or Budweiser which are 2 of the better brands we get in India. Other than that, I usually go with a whiskey and water. I don't drink much though.

If Bud is one of the better beers you get I would be moving-- that is like bottom of the barrel here.
