So I've just finished a basic portfolio website to bring together all my work.
I've gone for the simplicity and clean feel, and tried to keep it modern.
Only got two examples of my work in so far, will be adding more later.
All criticism, suggestions or thoughts are welcome.

Thanks guys.

about me - jagged centered text? Why not shore that up by restricting it into a centered width limited box?
Same for the 'mywork'. showing it contained to a box says "hey.. i know more than the center html tag!".
Why doesn't your email open up to a 'new mail' call?
Why doesn't your twitter account name jump right to your twitter page?
in the 'my work' - there is too much crazy blank space with the nav bar, the header, and your work.
Kanvas kreations goes no where..
I also like the navigation buttons to be highlighted when I am on a specific page.. if I am on the 'about me' the 'about' should be still highlighted.. It's a visual queue of where I am.
Oh! I'm in your img directory! Look'n at eight photos! It's best to lock that down.
Over all.. it's boring. Minimalistic doesn't have to mean boring!

I think it should have more images and maybe pictures that relate to your field. People ignore text, the first thing they focus on is pictures.
He is my site although it needs some maintenance atm.
My site
I designed this through moon fruit if you are curious.
The colors are nice though has a nice cool feel to it. You just need more!

Thank for the info modi.
Not too sure what you mean on that one. Make the containing div smaller and left align it?
Good point.
See what you mean. So extra space != modern looking contemporary feel?
It's a site I've only just finished and waiting for the client to get it hosted.
On it
Fixed.
Thanks for the link, I'll give it a good read through.
Going to work on all the other pointers now. Thanks again modi.

No.. justifying your text looks less.. 1997 and sloppy.
<div style="margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto;width:500px;text-align:justify;">

Yes.. a contemporary look is not just about adding nonsense gaping space.

Yeah your right that looks much better. Changed a few things from your recommendation, also made the underline a little bigger on links hover.

Can't think of anything else to add really. Still feels a little dull.

Try throwing a low impact texture on top of that gray background.

Hmm tried one, may have gone a little too strong with it but has a nice canvas weave kinda look.

Not bad.. you may want to darken your text up.

Met in the middle, lightened up the texture a little and darkened the text a tad.
Feels like it's really come a long way since posting, and got to a stage that I'm much happier with.
Thanks for all the help
