Anyone else play MMORPG's?

Posted 09 June 2012 - 10:09 PM

I was just wondering if anyone else played any MMORPG's?
I was into Runescape for a couple years, and was highly addicted to it. Now I'm into one called Tibia.

So, does anyone else play anything like Runescape, WoW, or Tibia? If so, how long have you played and what levels are you?

I used to review and play MMORPGs, but then I stopped being a masochist.

I used to play MMORPGs, then I got a life and realized it's pretty much the same thing, without the "O".

I played EvE-Online and WoW for like 8 years, and I tried both Rift and SWTOR. I don't anymore, though. The non-stop grinding in WoW/Rift/SWTOR has gotten very old, and EvE requires more dedication to be fun than I've been willing to provide it for a long time.

I tried that too, but I could never find any quests, and it took me forever to find a blacksmith willing to make me a two-handed sword. Even then, he insisted that it be blunt! - Eventually, when I starting grinding sheep for the wool cloth (and mind, skinning sheep with a blunt broadsword is a pain!), I got arrested for some reason. Was total BS. I tried to charge them but their ranged weapons got me long before I could even swing at them. (Fkn huntards!)

And they seriously need to fix the loot tables for those damn sheep! - All I got from the ~50 I killed were entrails and raw meat, and all the wool cloth was damaged beyond repair. Total waste of time :/

I still play WoW. Though I'm currently taking a break while I play through Diablo 3. They are a grind fest. That's cool when you have nothing to do, but its hard to balance that with a full time job and family and all that.

Eve is definitely a challenging game. Everytime I lose a ship, either from pirates or just plain missions, I would just cancel my subscription.

You couldn't find any quests? Srsly? In a few hours, I'll be embarking on a quest to replenish our ration supplies for the coming week with far less than a handful of gold bits to spend. This quest is repeatable twice weekly. Tomorrow, however, I'll be up bright and early for a solid 8 hours of gold farming. If you're having trouble locating quests, perhaps you should try a different outpost...

And aside from a few "specialists", all the blacksmiths work for big box chains now. You're wasting valuable time and gold shopping for custom work when you can head down to ye olde sporting goods shoppe and pick up a mass manufactured piece for cut-rate prices, and possibly a sharpening stone to go with it.

Your problem with the wool seems to be that you are grinding the entire sheep. Perhaps if you would simply sheer the wool, you would have better luck. I am certain the wool is of much higher quality when it hasn't first been mashed with entrails. This also affords you the opportunity to either save and raise the sheep for future wool should your gear run shabby, or slaughter the sheep and make a protein packed jerky to keep you satiated on long journeys.

Additionally, it is always a good idea to have a ranged weapon quickly accessible in one of your primary weaponry slots as not all opponents will be using a blunt broadsword. This is just common sense.

Ahh, but I never had to get rations. I'd just eat the sheep meat I collected, and I know a mage that's happy to conjure me some bread every now and then. (Good guy, but he's always wearing the strangest looking head gear, and his wand looks kind of like a big spoon...)

I did go to a few of those sporting good vendors, but the problem was that none of the vendors wanted to buy my old stuff, so I couldn't get any gold to pay with. They even refused to let me pay with a pile of those green paper slips they like, which I managed to get by looting an unlocked treasure chest in the building next to the sporting goods vendor. - Actually, they all got very weird when I did that. Called a bunch of those oddly equipped huntards to come chase me off.

You may be right about the sheep though. I could try hunting something else for XP. There are always a lot of cultist looking people around the newbie zones in town. -- Well, they look like they worship some undead boss at least. Can't be up to no good!

Yea, but the two-handed sword pretty much fills all my weapon slots. In any case, I'm more of a melee/spell-caster class, so I'd rather use ranged spells to deal with them. Just need to find a trainer first...

I love to play Runescape, even though Jagex (the company that manages Runescape) screws it up with every major update. I just got a copy of Diablo 3 too, so maybe I'll get into it. :)

Developing games is kind of hard for a 15 year old with not a lot of programming experience o.O Though I am trying.

Main reason I quit right there.

@BenignDesign

It's kind of hard to play a MMRPG when you live in the middle of the country, surronded by only older people in their 60's, plus you never have a ride anywhere even if someone your own age wants to hang out :D

@Atli
Day made because of you, sir/madam.

The "O" is the best part.
