I have a server (simple java server i made) on my local computer and would like to take request from a Wide Area Connection. Not Lan. To do this i need to forward the same port my server is listening for.
What i would like to know is if i can forward the port with authentication so that anyone who does a port scan and finds an available port on my computer will NOT be able to connect to my server without this authentication.
Thanks for reading, any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Just use SSH tunneling. Uses key based authentication, and all the security you should need.
