I was responding to a post by user "arc'aine" last night, and the "member" tool came up empty. I'm guessing this was because of the included single quote character. Is there a syntaxfor using this, or should perhaps single quotes be disallowed in member names?

I want to say that the system auto strip that out when doing a lookup.

Example - if I am looking at this thread:

and I click his/her name the profile comes up fine.

The bug is that if I try to do either as a member tag, I get nothin'. (look at the bbcode for this message)

I suppose we're not going to re-write the code, so I suggest rewriting the documentation - warn new members that they shouldn't use the single quote in their member names.
Oh, and while we're at it, can we also suggest that member names should be ones that will stay valid over time? So references to age, particular language, "newbie", or other ephemeral characteristics should be avoided?

You can't call them stupid if you don't give them fair warning.

You can't call them stupid for not realizing they won't be 16 in 10 years?

By 26 they will have long since gotten pissed off at the community & stormed out.
